Water Safety Clinics

As the weather warms up and spring is just around the corner, more backyard & community pools are starting to open. Your swimmers are learning water safety skills during their lessons to help them safely navigate summer swim season. But would your child know what to do if they fell into a swimming pool fully clothed? With no goggles? Would they panic and struggle?

Little Swimmers is holding a two-part clinic for swimmers and their families to learn safety in and around the pool. While only our swimmers will be in the water, we highly encourage parents to participate from the pool deck and learn alongside their swimmers. The skills learned in the clinic can be practiced at home and reinforced throughout the summer to keep the skills fresh all season.

Session 1 will be a practice clinic where swimmers will come in their regular swimsuits. We will talk about being safe around a swimming pool, always making sure there is an adult with them if they are near a pool and what to do if we fall in the pool. What will it feel like? What do we do first? We will practice falling in the pool, rolling over to float, locating and getting to the closet wall, climbing out, getting to the steps and calling for help. We will talk about what to do if a friend or sibling falls in the pool. We will answer any questions that parents have about water safety.

Session 2 swimmers will come to the pool fully clothed, with long pants, long sleeved shirts, shoes and socks. We will talk about what we learned in the previous clinic, and then each swimmer will “fall in” fully clothed and practice the skills that they learned to safely call for help and get out of the pool.
We will have up to five swimmers and their families in each group. Pool Safety Clinics are held on Saturday afternoon and Sunday mornings starting March 21st and running through mid-May. All swimmers will get a certificate of completion!

We encourage even our very confident and high-level swimmers to attend. There is a big difference between being prepared to swim with a swimsuit and goggles and accidentally falling into a pool fully clothed and with no goggles!
This clinic is open to both members and non-members, so if you have friends and family with kids at home and access to a pool, they are welcome to attend as well.
$25 per swimmer covers both sessions. Each session is 30 minutes long.At Little Swimmers
